SHOTGUN WEDDING INTERVIEW


Give a short explanation of the band's origins. (story behind the name, when you got started etc)

The band was started in February 2012 by me (William Seamon, lead singer) and Darius Hairston (lead guitarist) with the name "The Mischievous Youngsters". We weren't serious at the time, but we put up some youtube videos, and after some encouragement by our friends, we decided to try to get our name out there. We have since then recruited a drummer and bassist, and changed our name to "No More Heroes", then again to "Shotgun Wedding". I forgot where the first two names came from, but Shotgun Wedding comes from a song by Panic! At The Disco, haha.

What are some of the band's influences?

Our band has been influenced by any music we think is good, basically! Any pop punk band we've heard has especially influenced us, but our favorites are Mayday Parade and Relient K.

What was your favorite show to play?

Our favorite show would have to be our first, just because of how sadly hilarious it was. It was all little 9-year-old girls, and they wouldn't leave us alone after it.

What band(s) do you want to share the stage with in the future?

I hope one day we could share a stage with our favorite bands, or you know, at least play on a stage they played at 10 years ago.

Can you give any details on future releases? (EPs, singles, full-lengths - anything you can give)

We've just recently started writing music with our full band, so we don't have any releases planned for the immediate future. But whenever we record a new track, we'll be sure to share it!

Do you plan to tour in the future?

We do plan to tour when we're stop 15-year-olds, and when people know who we are!

If so, where do you want to play most?

California baby!

Where do you see yourself in five years?

Ten years?

I don't see ourselves anywhere in the future, not because I don't think we'll be successful, but I believe in living in the moment. I don't care about the future, I'm living for now. I don't even know what I'm going to type next, it'll probably be a complete surprise. Fruit loops.

SKYLESS LIMITS INTERVIEW

Give a short explanation of the band's origins. (story behind the name, when you got started etc)

Well, I got the idea for the project last summer in 2011. I didn't have a name for myself then, I was just writing songs because it's what I felt like doing. I had just moved into the state of Ohio so I was pretty alone the whole time. I was thinking of how I wanted to change and be somebody, because my whole life I was just a troublemaker and people would tell me I wouldn't amount to much. Most people from my hometown just looked down on me. So I told myself if I wanted to be somebody to people, I had to work for it and that I would. I believed there weren't any limits on what I could do if I tried. The sky wouldn't even be the limit. So I titled my project "Skyless Limits".

What are some of the band's influences?

Some of the influences for my sound are artists like Chase Coy, Jack Johnson, Never Shout Never, Mayday Parade. You know, artist like those. When it comes to writing, I really just write about whatever I feel and make the most of it.

What was your favorite show to play?

Since I've been just starting out, I haven't had any "real" shows. I play at this one bar downtown every other night, but it's a little bit of a let down. Most of the people aren't there to listen to you. They're there to get drunk and watch whatever game is on TV.

What band(s) do you want to share the stage with in the future?

Most the bands and artists I listed already. Mayday Parade, NSN, etc. Someone I really want to share the stage with often in the future is my friend Stagecoach Dilemma. He's a local in my area and we chill a lot and share the same goals musically. So sharing the stardom with him would be pretty awesome one day.

Can you give any details on future releases? (EPs, singles, full-lengths - anything you can give)

I recently released my single "Dear Friends" from my upcoming 7 track EP "Escape Into A Dream" on my FB page and a few other sites. The full length EP will be here September 1st. I'll have it on iTunes, Spotify, Amazon, and like, 30 something other stores. A few more singles are going to be released along the way, but the full thing is on Sep. 1st.

Do you plan to tour in the future?

Who doesn't plan to tour? Of course I do!

If so, where do you want to play most?

I honestly haven't really thought about that. Wherever my fans want me the most I guess!

Where do you see yourself in five years?

Hopefully getting signed by a label, releasing actual albums, playing at gigs, living off ramen, you know.

Ten years?

Touring the country, then the world. I kind of want pillows stuffed with dollars if I have enough money.

When/ how did you get involved with promoting?

Since I started this channel(rth) after getting deleted my other 4 accounts for uploading bands signed to known record labels(on september 2010), i decided to just upload unsigned/unknown bands; but then i took seriously on the promoting stuff when i created the fanpage for my channel(august 2011)

(obviously I already know, and most people can figure it out easily, but for anyone who doesn't know) Where does your name come from?

I took it from a song by Whitechapel off their album 'A New Era Of Corruption', wich is basically my favorite one from that record and as well my favorite in general

What was the first "heavy" band/song you ever heard that got you into the music?

Not sure how you can interpretate as 'heavy' but was 'Here To Stay' by Korn

Obviously you listen to a plethora of different music, but if you had to pick 5 bands to listen to for the rest of your life, what would they be?

Incubus, Misery Signals, Chevelle, Hopesfall and For The Fallen Dreams

If you had to pick one genre to listen to for the rest of your life, which would you pick?

Smart question, it has to be Melodic Hardcore

Do you go to concerts often? What has been your favorite show?

yes, but not much. When Comeback Kid came here back in 2008

What band(s) do you want to see the most?

Aegaeon, Suffokate, Misery Signals, Blessthefal and The Ghost Inside

THE WAR OF 1812 INTERVIEW


Give a short explanation of the band's origins. (story behind the name, when you got started etc)

A previous guitarist and I started the band together. He came up with the name as a joke and it just kind of stuck. We found some members and got started and it eventually led to where we are now.

What are some of the band's influences?

We have a pretty wide variety of things that influence us to play music. My personal favorite bands are Lydia, Dream Theater, Opeth, The Contortionist, Those Who Lie Beneath, Chelsea Grin, Born of Osiris. I started playing guitar because of Pantera and Metallica. Casey is really into I Declare War, Last Chance To Reason, The Contortionist, Within The Ruins, stuff like that.

What was your favorite show to play?

My favorite was a show we played in Oklahoma City, Oklahoma. The crowd was hot the entire set, a kid even broke his hand in a wall of death, haha.

What band(s) do you want to share the stage with in the future? My absolute goal in music is to do the Warped Tour. It seems like such fun. Besides that, I'd love to tour with Whitechapel.

Can you give any details on future release? (EPs, singles, full-lengths - anything you can give)

We just finished writing a full length that we will be recording with our good friend Bone at Threshold Studios. It'll be a little different and show more progress in the band but we really hope our fans enjoy it.

Do you plan to tour in the future?

Of course! We're going through some slight member changes right now and have to get our new members settled in. But, it is definitely in our future.

If so, where do you want to play most?

I'm down to play anywhere! Another dream of mine, though, is to tour in Europe.

Where do you see yourself in ten years?

Making music and touring the world!

Give a short explanation of the band's origins. (story behind the name, when you got started etc)

CV: We went from "Through a Window" to "Windows" to "Fenestras" to "Window" to "Widow". We started around May 2012.
TC: A friend and I started doing vocal covers in Christian's closet just to mess around after school. Christian would write guitar and drum parts in his free time, so we would do vocals over them. We invited an old friend, Christian Torres, and his brother, Matt Torres, to play guitar and bass for us, respectively. All we needed was a drummer, so we found Miguel through a friend.

CV: The only thing I can say is that "Burdens" is not going to be really like the two singles we released: "Desperation" and "Invertebrate". In my opinion, the new songs and the redone versions of "Desperation" and "Invertebrate" are going to sound a lot darker, heavier, and more melodic.

Do you plan to tour in the future?

As for my reviews, I got a bit overwhelmed trying to make this as good as I possibly could.

I can't lie, as I look over this I don't like it too much.
I think I got in over my head. I expected this to be much better than it is.
Which is no one's fault but my own.

I think doing this once a week isn't enough time, so if I continue this, I'll probably do every other Friday or something.

Collector Interview

Give a short explanation of the band's origins. (story behind the name, when you got started etc) 

The band started off playing shows as much as we could in our area (Columbus, Ohio). After we played a show with Carnifex and Oceano in April of 2011, Devin Shidaker, the guitarist of Oceano, talked with us and he soon became our manager. A member change here and there brings us to our current lineup and name.

What are some of the band's influences? 

Our influences range from many different types of music. When we write, we tend to get ideas from And Hell Followed With, whitechapel, Molotov Solution, Impending Doom and Thy Art Is Murder. But we love to listen to anything, pretty much.

What was your favorite show to play? 

Our favorite show to play, hands down, was the Third Jamboree. We had a huge crowd and an even bigger pit (someone put a whole in the wall) and we got to hang out with a bunch of our friends the whole day. It was so much fun.

What band(s) do you want to share the stage with in the future? 

We hope to share the stage with whitechapel, The Acacia Strain, Oceano, Chelsea Grin, Winds of Plague, Impending Doom, the list could go on forever. There are too many to choose from!

Can you give any details on future release? (EPs, singles, full-lengths - anything you can give)

We are releasing a self-titled, 5-track EP on August 18th at the Basement in Columbus, Ohio, sponsored by The Artery Foundation. If you buy a ticket from us, you get a free EP! We are going to be recording it sometime in the next month or so.

Do you plan to tour in the future? 

We would love to tour! We are currently working on getting a van and a trailer so that we are able to, but we are definitely looking forward to touring sometime soon.

If so, where do you want to play most?

One place I would love to tour personally would be California. Hot girls, sweet venues, and awesome crowds. What more could you ask for?

Where do you see yourself in ten years? 

In ten years, we hope to be touring the world playing our music to our fans. A tour bus, awesome equipment, and a tour crew so we don't have to load in or set up! That would be so great.

Ephemera Interview

Give a short explanation of the band's origins. (story behind the name, when you got started etc)

We first got everyone together on the 14th of July, 2011.  Everyone in the band except Ryan and Dillon are from Shawnee and attended high school together.  Taylor knew Ryan from his previous band and recruited him.  Down the road after the need for a bass player arose, Ryan suggested Dillon, whom he knew from his previous band as well.  We tried coming up with a name for about a month, even resorting to Google for elegant-sounding words.  We all agreed on Ephemera, which means something that is beautiful, but short-lived.

What are some of the band's influences? 

We all come from a variety of musical backgrounds, and as a seven piece, the influences everyone brings to the table are extremely diverse.  We obviously derive a lot of inspiration from metalcore giants Bring Me the Horizon and Like Moths to Flames, but we also take a lot of musical direction from other genres. For example, Aaron is heavily influenced by Telle of The Word Alive, while Michael’s favorite band is Avenged Sevenfold.

What was your favorite show to play? 

Our favorite show would probably have to be the Ink for Your Letter Apparel Presents the Southern Swing Tour.  We recently won an endorsement with that company and we played our first headlining show for the release of their Spring line of shirts.  We got to play with some awesome locals and made new friends in Righteous Vendetta and Not One is Upright.

What band(s) do you want to share the stage with in the future?

We all would pretty much like to play with the bands that inspire us, most notably Bring Me the Horizon.  Motionless in White would also be monumental, as would The Word Alive and Haste the Day.  The greatest honor we as a band could receive would be to play with some of the innovators of our genre. Bands like As I Lay Dying and Underoath.  Really the list is endless, as we want to share the stage with as many bands as possible and to make as many friends as possible.

Can you give any details on future release? (EPs, singles, full-lengths - anything you can give)

We’re currently writing the last of the material for our EP, which we expect to record and release some time in the early Fall of this year.  We’ve discussed shooting a music video as well, but it’s only in talks at the moment.

Do you plan to tour in the future? 

While it’s still an early idea, we would all love to be able to travel the country (the world some day, hopefully!) and play music and meet as many people as possible.  That’s the reason we got together and decided to play music, because it’s the passion we all share and that drives us to do what we do.

If so, where do you want to play most? 

We would absolutely love to tour the west coast.  California is known for its innovative and thriving music scene, and we would love to see how the crowd over there reacts to our music.

Where do you see yourself in ten years? 

In ten years? It’s hard to say where we see ourselves in one year, let alone ten.  But we would like to think we’re still pushing forward, driving as inspired as ever to creating the music we love for the people that love us.

Obliterationist Interview

Give a short explanation of the band's origins. (story behind the name, when you got started etc) 

We all got together as a band for the first time in December of 2010. Back then we were rather unserious about our band and we named us "Killing what's Lifeless" - a name only reffering to our first song named "A Soulless Monster".
As we wrote more songs and played local venues we noticed that we recieved more and more positive feedback, we couldn't believe it but people actually thought we were good!
We then decided that we would maintain our band more seriously and recruit a bass player which we had never had before. During this time it was the summer of 2011 and it wasn't until March of 2012 when we found our bass player. Shortly after he had joined we decided that we would pretty much start over from scratch and leave the "Killing what's Lifeless"-era behind us. We then named us "Obliterationist" which basically means "someone who has the plain ideology to destroy or ideas to obliterate, kill". A name we thought, and still do, fitted our songs and their meanings much better than "Killing what's Lifeless".

What are some of the band's influences?

Our bands influences are rather scattered although they are all in the metal section. We play deathcore/extrememetal that is a bit more to the deathmetal than to the hardcore. We are sort of a mix of Whitechapel and Chelsea Grin although people have said that we sound like Job For A Cowboy.

What was your favorite show to play? 

We haven't really played that many shows since we are newly established but our favorite show so far was when we played at a metal festival named "Entering Spring Festivalen" in the middle of April not too long from where we live.
We played together with larger Swedish bands such as Yersinia and Walking With Strangers and the crowd of around 300 people was amazing!

What band(s) do you want to share the stage with in the future? 

We would love to share the stage with any of our greatest inspirations such as Suicide Silence, Whitechapel or Chelsea Grin. You can always hope, haha!

Can you give any details on future release? (EPs, singles, full-lengths - anything you can give)

We just released our first EP and right now we are only promoting it continiously to build up a solid fanbase. We are looking at re-entering the studio by the end of this summer again to record some more. What it is we are not really sure about yet although pre-production songs could be submitted this summer!

Do you plan to tour in the future? If so, where do you want to play most?

We definitely plan to tour in the future. Right now it looks like we will be doing a tour or two this summer here in Sweden. On future tours we hope to be going to places all over Europe and also places such as the US and Australia.

Where do you see yourself in ten years?

We have fortunately no ideas of where we will see ourselves in the future as we are a newly started band. We are only wanting to maintain our band at a steady level, write music and bring it out to a supportive crowd to see wherever it takes us!

Give a short explanation of the band's origins. (story behind the name, when you got started etc) 

Korotory is a Death/Trash/Groove metal band from Long Island, NY, USA We formed in 1995 and survived every terrible trend in music, We never gave into anyone or and trend we made our own rules even when everyone said METAL was DEAD. We said fuck that and waved the flag of metal high and proud and here we are 17 years later. We have had many line ups over the years but our vocalist Ray Truhn, and me drummer Darren Markoff have been the core of the band since the beginning. Our original guitarist Gary Hoyt left the band in February and was replaced by guitarist Matt Scriva We added guitarist Chris Clemente and bassist Brett Weatherston to the fold a year ago

What are some of the band's influences?

There are so many but I guess the big ones are Pantera, Exodus, Testament, Death, At The Gates, Overkill, Meshuggah, Cannibal Corpse, Suffocation, Vio-lence, Machine Head, and Kreator

What was your favorite show to play?

The three best shows we ever played were1. Exodus, Malevolent Creation, Holy Grail & Bonded by Blood in NYC 20102. Satyricon/Cthonic in NYC 20093. Death/Hammerfall in NJ 1998What band(s) do you want to share the stage with in the future?We would love to play with as many bands as possible the one band that would be beyond a dream but will never happen is Pantera.

We have a new album due in August 2012 it will be called Chapter III : The Conquering

We hope to do some touring for this record, we will have to wait and see.

Where when and how did Plagues of Prophecy form? (how the band started, how long have you been a band, etc...)

"The name Plagues of Prophecy came from an idea the vocalist had while in prison in 2006.
The vocalist called a meeting from prison in 2008 to get the band started upon his release in 2009, and have been together ever since."

What are some of your musical influences?

"Some of our influences consist of Cannibal Corpse, Cattle Decapitation, Winterhorde, Vehemence, Behemoth, Dark Funeral, and Cephalic Carnage. "

Is there a concept behind the band and/or your art?

"Our art work comes from song influences - basically depicting what the songs are about...horror, gore, and brutality. We hired an artist for the album art of our first CD and it came out awesome."

Are you planning to tour any time soon? Where do you want to go?

"We are working on shows around the northeastern region at the moment, as well as Tennessee, West Virginia, Virginia, and anywhere else we are welcome/wanted to play. "

Where do you see Plagues of Prohecy being in 3 years?

"Playing as many shows as possible and hopefully in the hearts of every true death metal fan."

Are there plans for a 2nd full length album in the works?

"We have seven new songs that are written in 7 strings and hope to be recording a 2nd album soon to release those new ones and more."

After Ail Interview

Interview with Ben Veau of After Ail

Give a short explanation of the band's origins. (story behind the name, when you got started etc) 

"After Ail has been a band for many years. With many different member changes and even name changes. I am not the original member. The only past members I do know are Corey McKinstrey who was the original vocalist. Fill in guitarist, some kid named Chris. then a fill in bassist, a kid named Carl Gustafason who has been in many bands playing many different spots. The band finally became named After Ail in May of 2010. Basically the meaning behind the name is simple.. AFTER AIL: After Ailment. Ailment means pain/sickness/blah blah blah. So overall it just means the aftermath of a disease or something along those lines. Like I said, I never came up with the name! I can say that I have known the members of the band for 4 years. So the band has been around at least that long!!! We recently have been endorsed by Monogram Apparel, a clothing company that supports tours and the owner of it was in a band called Anomia which recently had their last show. R.I.P. Also we just picked up some amazing management with Nasty Promotions, my good friend Matthew Hebert (Our manager) who owns the company is heartfelt dude who puts up with a lot from the local music scene and literally spends his life doing this, helping bands, raising an awesome kid and being one hell of a guy! He deserves all the credit he can and he has been helping us as a band more than ever. Thanks Matt! You're the man!"

What are some of the band's influences?

"Some of After Ail's influences are tricky and you might not believe this but..... here they are!Korn. I Killed The Prom Queen. Behold Oblivion. Adestria. As I Lay Dying. The Faceless. King Conquer. Periphery. Welcome The Tide. Destroy The Runner. Born of Osiris.

Each band named (...and there are more...) influence each one of our members in a different way. Whether it is lyrically and vocalist wise for me. Double bass patterns, breakdowns, to the tuning of the drums for our drummer. To the riffs and melodic parts we have in our songs for our guitarist, and for our bassist, well he is all over the place. In a good way!!!"

What was your favorite show to play?

"Hard question man! I do believe that everyone in the band's favorite show was one date in Hartford CT at The Webster Theater. The guys were telling me the crowd was insane, people wanted pictures with them, autographs, the owner said they could come back anytime they wanted! I guess it was one hell of a show! sadly I was not in the band at that time.I can say our next show with local acts and very good personal buds of ours on June 29th which is personally my favorite local band A Wanted Awakening's CD Release show with: A Wanted Awakening. The River Neva. Still Silent. Drama Queen For 600. We Ate The Survivors. Flood of Arcadia. Heal The Destroyer. this show is going to go in the books man, all amazing bands and anyone reading this should definitely check them out!!"

"Very easy dude...Periphery, Behold Oblivion, Born of Osiris, I Killed Everyone, The Faceless, Rings of Saturn, Adestria, Breakdown of Sanity, Welcome The Tide, Suffokate, Betraying the Martyrs, Argent Strand etc..."

Can you give any details on future release? (EPs, singles, full-lengths - anything you can give)

"Well all I can personally say at the moment is that everyone keep your eyes and ears open for August. Some killer things are in the works. You will all love it! "

Do you plan to tour in the future?

"Touring is up in the air at the moment my man, 2 members in our band each have a kid, and one is getting married in a week. But hey, who ever said that can stop someone from living their dream. I personally want to tour the UK, but we will have to wait and see!

If so, where do you want to play most?

"There is no specific place we want to play the most, we want to play many different places playing as much as we can to get our music, name and message out there through my lyrics and through our heart for this.  All I can say to anyone is, it doesn't matter what genre you are, whether you play all breakdowns, open notes, or if you are nothing but guitar sweeps, vocal squeals and blast beats. It doesn't matter what you play, as long as that "genre' doesn't stop you from progressing as a band. Play what you want, write what you want, do what YOU want. Don't let anything get in the way of that. It is a therapy for music, and a hobby for few nowadays. release yourself through the music you play and write, and keep on shredding. Fuck."
